Week 4 Updates

1. This week we have been working on augmenting the candle experience by:

-adding smoke trails when it is extinguished,

-making the candle flame “blow” in the opposite direction of the user’s breath; and

-diminishing the size of the candle as breath intensity increases.

-Our group has also started to work on other prototypes, mainly bubbles and making music.

2. Our steps for the next week are:

-Finish candle effects

-Rescale objects in the downloaded scene for the candle (right now everything is too large in the VR world)

-Develop code to interact with Vive controllers

-For the bubbles, we will mount a stick with a solenoid on the end that will be attached in the VR environment to a game controller. Will use button on the controller for the breath simulator function (since keyboard not available to the user when in VR experience)

-Continue work on developing prototypes for bubbles and music

-Start working on the midterm presentation

A lab issue we are having is Unity versioning on the SCA computers. Hopefully with an administrator password can update the Unity software to a newer version. Did notice that computer in the corner has newer version of Unity, but has been occupied by other groups when we're here so hampering our progress.
